Section titled “What is SingleDraft?”SingleDraft is a legal writing assistant that runs as an add-in inside Microsoft Word. It provides a sidebar with tools for definition tracking, document checks, AI-assisted drafting, and access to your firm’s internal knowledge base.
Which platforms does SingleDraft support?
Section titled “Which platforms does SingleDraft support?”SingleDraft works with Microsoft Word on Windows and macOS. The minimum supported version is Word 2019. All features are available in Microsoft 365 (Office 365) versions of Word.
What languages does SingleDraft support?
Section titled “What languages does SingleDraft support?”User interface. The sidebar is available in English, Czech, French, German, Polish, and Slovak. You can change the language in the add-in settings.
Document processing. SingleDraft can process documents in any language. Definition tracking, checks, and the AI assistant work across languages.
External data. Company register lookups are available for specific jurisdictions: Switzerland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia, United Kingdom, and Poland. Statutory reference checks are currently available for the Czech Republic.
Does SingleDraft work offline?
Section titled “Does SingleDraft work offline?”No. SingleDraft requires an internet connection. It uses cloud-based AI services and needs to access synchronized data.
Installation and Setup
Section titled “Installation and Setup”How do I install SingleDraft?
Section titled “How do I install SingleDraft?”There are two installation paths:
- Admin deployment (recommended): Deploy through the Microsoft 365 admin center to all users or specific groups.
- Individual installation: Side-load the add-in manifest file in Word.

Do I need administrator rights to install SingleDraft?
Section titled “Do I need administrator rights to install SingleDraft?”For individual (side-load) installation, you do not need administrator rights. For firm-wide deployment through the Microsoft 365 admin center, you need admin access.
The SingleDraft tab does not appear after installation.
Section titled “The SingleDraft tab does not appear after installation.”Try these steps in order:
- Restart Microsoft Word.
- Check that the add-in is enabled: go to File > Options > Add-ins and verify that SingleDraft is listed and active.
- Check whether your organization’s security policies block third-party add-ins.
- On managed devices, confirm that the Word web add-ins policy allows custom manifests.

Features and Usage
Section titled “Features and Usage”How does the AI assistant work?
Section titled “How does the AI assistant work?”The AI assistant reads the context of your open document and uses it to provide relevant answers and suggestions. If you have connected your firm’s documents through Internal Data Synchronization, the AI can also reference your internal knowledge base. You can choose from multiple language models (GPT, Claude, Gemini) and customize the response style.
What are Shortcuts in the AI assistant?
Section titled “What are Shortcuts in the AI assistant?”Shortcuts are saved prompts that you can trigger by typing
/ in the chat input. For example, you can create a
shortcut called penalty and trigger it by typing
/penalty. This sends the full saved prompt to the AI
without retyping it each time.
Can SingleDraft access my firm’s internal documents?
Section titled “Can SingleDraft access my firm’s internal documents?”Yes. SingleDraft can synchronize with your SharePoint document libraries. Once connected, the Snippets feature lets you search past documents by keyword or meaning. The AI assistant can also use these documents as context. See Internal Data Synchronization for setup instructions.
What does the Checks feature detect?
Section titled “What does the Checks feature detect?”Checks cover a range of issues specific to legal writing:
- Definitions: unused terms, duplicate definitions, inconsistent capitalization
- Formatting: double spaces, unbalanced brackets, unbalanced quotation marks, double periods
- Content: placeholder text left in templates, invalid dates, verbose paragraphs, incorrect cross-references
- Numbers: discrepancies between numerical and written forms, invalid IBANs and standard numbers
- External validation: company name and ID verification against public registers
- Metadata: checks that document Author and Company fields match your firm’s policy

What is the Schedule of Issues?
Section titled “What is the Schedule of Issues?”The Schedule of Issues generates a structured table from tracked changes and comments in your document. You can filter by author, date range, and content type (tracked changes only, comments only, or both). The exported table can be saved in multiple languages. What are Blocks?
Section titled “What are Blocks?”Blocks let you insert pre-made placeholder symbols (such as [*], […], or custom text) and signature pages into your document. For signature pages, SingleDraft detects the parties from the document and pre-fills their names and positions. See Blocks.
Data and Security
Section titled “Data and Security”How is my data protected?
Section titled “How is my data protected?”SingleDraft uses encryption in transit and at rest. AI providers process data within the EU. For full details, see SingleDraft Security.
Is my data used for AI model training?
Section titled “Is my data used for AI model training?”No. No document data or user data is used to train or improve any AI models.
Which AI providers does SingleDraft use?
Section titled “Which AI providers does SingleDraft use?”SingleDraft supports models from Azure OpenAI (GPT and o-series), AWS Bedrock (Anthropic Claude), and Google Vertex AI (Gemini). All providers are configured for EU data residency. See External Services for the current list.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”If you run into any issues:
- Close and reopen the SingleDraft sidebar.
- Update Microsoft Word to the latest version.
- Clear the add-in cache and restart Word.
